3d Cad allows you to design all the structure in every detail so you can see what works and what doesn't, what fits, and what doesn't. I Call it "cyber building".

And after you have completed the 3D model its a simple matter to create measured drawings from it to build from. I even exported a 3D model of The Royal Duchess to use in Virtual Sailor so I could take her cyber sailing. Which after having sailed the real mccoy is surprisingly accurate.
